Reasonable Property Taxes—Without a Broad-Based Sales or Income Tax

New Hampshire’s tradition of avoiding a broad-based sales or income tax is important to many families, and I do not support imposing either one.

But maintaining that tradition should not mean continually shifting more of the cost of schools and essential services onto local property taxpayers. When the state fails to meet its responsibilities—or prioritizes tax breaks for the ultra-wealthy and multinational corporations—homeowners, renters, families, seniors, and local businesses ultimately bear more of the burden.

Property taxes should be reasonable, predictable, and sufficient to support the strong schools and essential services our communities depend on. Achieving that balance will require responsible spending at the state level, honest evaluation of who benefits from state tax policies, and greater state support for the obligations it is required to meet.

My experience in business, education, conflict resolution, and community leadership has taught me how to bring people with different perspectives together, negotiate practical solutions, and remain focused on the problem at hand. I will work across the aisle to pursue meaningful property-tax relief without replacing one burden on working families with another.

As your State Representative, I will work to:

  • Oppose the creation of a broad-based sales or income tax.

  • Require the state to meet its responsibilities to schools and towns rather than continually shifting costs onto local property taxpayers.

  • Support responsible spending and carefully consider how state budget decisions affect Wolfeboro, Tuftonboro, and other New Hampshire communities.

  • Oppose tax breaks that favor the ultra-wealthy and multinational corporations over New Hampshire families, small businesses, and towns.

  • Support practical measures that provide property-tax relief, particularly for working families and seniors seeking to remain in their homes.

  • Work across the aisle to find fair, sustainable solutions that protect taxpayers while maintaining the schools and essential services our communities rely upon.
