Deirdre McEachern, Democrat, Wins Historic Victory in Century-Long Republican Stronghold

Voters in Wolfeboro and Tuftonboro turn out in support of a positive grassroots campaign focused on local issues, shared values, and finding common ground across political divides.

WOLFEBORO, NH — Democrat Deirdre McEachern has won election to the New Hampshire House of Representatives in Carroll County District 6, marking a significant political breakthrough.

McEachern’s victory marks a significant shift in the political landscape of Wolfeboro and Tuftonboro, two communities with a long history of Republican representation in the New Hampshire House. In Wolfeboro, Republican dominance stretches back more than a century.

For over a year, McEachern mounted a grassroots campaign built on direct conversations with voters. She knocked on nearly 1,000 doors across Wolfeboro and Tuftonboro, held monthly coffee and office gatherings, and attended over 50 area events, meeting residents across the political spectrum and focusing on the concerns affecting local families.

"This campaign was built one conversation at a time," said McEachern. "Throughout the community, I heard from people who care deeply about our schools, our lakes, the cost of living, and the future of our state and towns. We may have different political beliefs, but we share so many of the same hopes for the place we call home."

Running on a message of thoughtful leadership, McEachern emphasized strong public schools, attainable housing, and reasonable property taxes without a broad-based sales or income tax.

A former educator, small business owner, and longtime community volunteer with a master's degree in conflict resolution from Trinity College Dublin in Ireland, McEachern made respectful dialogue and practical problem-solving central to her candidacy.

"I'm deeply honored by the trust voters have placed in me," McEachern said. "Whether you voted for me or not, I will be your representative. I believe we can disagree respectfully, find common ground, and make meaningful progress on the issues that matter to our communities."

McEachern thanks the volunteers and supporters who helped carry her campaign across the finish line, as well as the residents who welcomed her into their homes and shared their concerns.

"This victory belongs to the people of Wolfeboro and Tuftonboro," McEachern added. "I am grateful to everyone who took the time to talk with me, share their concerns, and participate in this election. I'm looking forward to getting to work."
